Trust Me

The best way to tell if a new magazine is going to be a success is if it has a second and a third edition. Well, here's the second, and we have started on the third.

Our goal is for the magazine to be a useful learning tool for the marketing community. Our goal is for it to become a sounding board for all businesses in Ukraine when it comes to issues of communications.

Our target audience goes beyond the marketer or the PR director to the CEO, the finance director, the human resources executive, and the legal team. We can't think of any English reader in business who wouldn't benefit in numerous ways.

It will help make you a better manager. It will add to your skills as a marketer. It will help you reduce your risk with articles on crisis management. It will sharpen your skills for presentations, regardless which side the table you are sitting.

It will simply make you smarter.

Advertising in Willard Marketing Monthly will help you reach your target audience. In other words, it's a solid advertising buy and at a cost your business can afford.

Let me tell you a short story. It comes from my political background, but was told to me third hand so the veracity of it probably can't be authenticated, which is good.

Early in his career, Bill Clinton was walking down a main street in Little Rock, Arkansas when he came upon his third grade teacher. He was looking despondent because he had just lost a contest where he hoped to repeat as governor.

Clinton: "Mrs. Bertie Mae, you know I lost that race the other day."
Mrs. Bertie Mae:: "Yes, I know Billy. It was such a shame."
Clinton: "Yes, well, I want to thank you for voting for me just the same."
Mrs. Bertie Mae: "But Bill, I never voted for you."

Clinton was astounded. He couldn't believe it.

Clinton: "But Mrs. Bertie Mae, you were my third grade teacher. You're in my mama's garden club. You baby-sat me when I was a little baby. How could you not vote for me?"

Then, Mrs. Bertie said with all sincerity she could muster: "Billy. You never asked for my vote."

Well, we're not going to make that mistake at Willard Marketing Monthly. We would love to have your support. We are formally asking for your support in the form of advertising in the magazine.

Trust me, you will feel good about it.

With that, I'll get back to work on the October issue of our magazine which  has a great marketing story about a midget and a three-legged horse.

Best Regards.

Good, Bad - and Does it Matter?

When it listed "10 countries in deep economic trouble" last April, US News & World Report magazine placed Ukraine third. Only Mexico and Pakistan ranked worse.

The Conglomerate Disease

If there is an ad or PR agency that has ever been made better by being acquired by one of the conglomerates, then I think it must exist on some far-flung planet.
